At 18, Kyle is a proud member of the Xpress Labels team in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, where he is learning the craft of label printing. Little did he know, when he started his Print Operative Level 2 apprenticeship in June, supported by the BPIF, that he would soon be involved in a global branding project for a blockbuster film. “It’s unbelievable,” Kyle said. “It’s amazing to think that something I helped make will be part of the Deadpool & Wolverine promo.”
Supporting the Actiph Water Collaboration with Marvel
The project is a special edition of labels for Actiph Water, linked to the launch of Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” on Thursday, July 25th. For Kyle, it has been a steep learning curve in high-quality printing.
The labels showcase Xpress Labels’ commitment to sustainability and excellence. The labels are printed on AD Clear on Clear PP using Cleanflake adhesive, they enable recyclability, a vital consideration for Actiph Water’s environmentally concerned brand. They also feature Bellissima DMS plate screening, a cutting-edge technology that enhances the clarity and detail of the images. “It’s like turbocharging the quality,” David Ross, MD at Xpress, said. “The results are stunning.”
The Future is Bright
Kyle feels a sense of achievement that goes beyond his short time in the industry, as the labels adorn Actiph Water bottles and reach movie fans and Marvel lovers. “I’m just getting started at Xpress,” he said modestly, “but being part of this project makes me excited for what’s to come in the future!”
Kyle’s enthusiasm reminds Xpress Labels of the importance of nurturing new talent. His journey from apprentice to contributor on a worldwide branding campaign illustrates the opportunities that the packaging and label printing sector offers.
As “Deadpool & Wolverine” hits cinemas across the UK today, audiences may not notice the teenage apprentice whose work helped bring some of the film magic to their water bottles. But Kyle will be watching in Aylesbury, with a smile knowing he played a small but significant role in bringing Hollywood to the High Street.
